Africa Rising is as much about improving standards of governance as it is about an increasingly confident youths and civil society. It is also about businessmen and women who are stepping beyond national borders and going global.

I think it's important for us as a society to remember that the youth within juvenile justice systems are, most of the time, youths who simply haven't had the right mentors and supporters around them - because of circumstances beyond their control.

I think we should bring up our children with much less pressure to compete and get ahead: no comparing one child with another, at home or in school; no grades. Let athletics be primarily for fun, and let them be organized by children and youths themselves.

I know that a good many champions have entertained the thought that the more they discourage youngsters, the longer they would reign. However, this theory never impressed me, and I always made it a point to give youths the benefit of my experience in bicycle racing.

Encouraging youths to be creative is preventing so many unhealable disasters out there in the world. A writer for example will focus on their writing, a poet will do their poems just like a sculptor or musician - always finding ways to be the best in their craft. An idle mind is the devil's workshop but a creative mind is a gold mine!

We youths say "like" all the time because we mistrust reality.

I adore this adventure I adore working with youth. For me it's a daily challenge working to help these youths realize their dreams.
