There is one rule for the industrialist and that is: Make the best quality of goods possible at the lowest cost possible paying the highest wages possible.

It is dangerous for mortal beauty or terrestrial virtue to be examined by too strong a light. The torch of Truth shows much that we cannot and all that we would not see.

Life is the only art that we are required to practice without preparation and without being allowed the preliminary trials the failures and botches that are essential for training.

Can space break? I mean the space of art galleries. Over the past 100 years art galleries have gone from looking like Beaux Arts salons to simple storefronts to industrial lofts to the gleaming giant white cubes of Chelsea with their shiny concrete floors.

I did not think that I was angry but clearly anger was reflected in my writing. I did not think that I had been affected emotionally but it was clear from my writing that I was still very emotional about the trial some six months after it ended.

In my fifty years of experience and memory I have seen the most amazing increase in the standard of living of a people ever achieved anywhere in the world. This is why I am so sure that our system of free competition and industrial development is sound and must be preserved.

I just think we're living in a time of massive amazing change like the Industrial Revolution on acid.
