The sight of people sleeping on the streets hits us hardest around Christmas and New Year. We see them camped out alone on the freezing concrete, and we think, with a rush of guilt, about heading home to our families and our soft beds.

Adults are tempted to produce and perform Christmas for their kids and their families, and they arrive at Christmas Day weary and disillusioned.

Pfft, I hate Christmas Day. It's for children and families. Not for people like me.

All families had their special Christmas food. Ours was called Dutch Bread, made from a dough halfway between bread and cake, stuffed with citron and every sort of nut from the farm - hazel, black walnut, hickory, butternut.

Listen, everyone, you all have your own circumstances. Some of you come from rich families,and some poor. But your value isn't determined by such things--by things beyond your control. Each one of you must discover your own worth through your own efforts. So... don't make the mistake of thinking you alone are special.

Stop breaking families. Start building them.

I would define reconcile as means of closing the wound and allowing it to heal. The scars will be there to remind you that you were once hurt. But the pain of the wound will be gone. If we don't reconcile. It means we are not allowing the wound to heal. We will experience the pain every day . Even if the people who hurt us are no longer there or no longer hurting us. Let us reconcile, so we can no longer feel the pain and hurt. But most importantly . Let us reconcile so we can build our families, communities, societies, nation and our countries.

Our families are an endless oasis for support, compassion, forgiveness, and love.
