Strength training is a fantastic microcosm for a man's life: pushing yourself through discomfort, every single day, is the only way to make measurable progress. It's one of the few ways to grow as a man.

I like to do things that are publicly embarrassing, to feel the embarrassment touch me and sink into me and then be gone. I like getting on elevators and singing too loudly in that small space. It wasn't about believing this or that, it wasn't even about good and evil and right and wrong, it was about finding the strength to bear the discomfort that came with being in the world.
